Why is teenage pregnancy rate high in Kyrgyzstan?
While the teen birth rate is decreasing globally, in Kyrgyzstan it is still on a high level.
What are the reasons for that? First of all, low use of contraception: only 1 out of 10 teens in union has safe sex. Secondly, poverty: the tendency shows the poorer a region is the higher birth rate is reported. Finally, Kyrgyzstan has the highest number of early marriages in Central Asia.
